Checked Baggage

Aer Lingus understands your traveling needs and thus offers you four baggage options within Europe:

  • Baggage weighing up to 15kg – when you just want to carry the essentials
  • Up to 20kg
  • Up to 25kg
  • Go high with baggage allowance limit up to 40kg

If you arrive at the airport with excess baggage, you will have to pay EUR 10 per extra kilo within Europe and €75 per bag for transatlantic flights.

Checked Baggage

  • Make sure that your baggage falls in any one of these four categories within Europe - Baggage weighing up to 15kg, 20kg, 25kg, and 40kg. For any overweight baggage, you will have to pay EUR 10 per kg if traveling within Europe.
  • If you are traveling in transatlantic flights, there are three options available – 20kg, 25kg and 30kg and a maximum of 3 checked bags are allowed per guest, per direction.
  • Bag dimensions must not exceed a maximum limit of 158cm.
  • Excess baggage fee of EUR 75, USD 100, and GBP 68 will be charged for additional baggage on transatlantic flights.

Sports Equipment

You can carry sports equipment as checked baggage provided their weight is not exceeding 23kg. Fishing equipment, golf bags, bicycles, sports guns, surfboards, windsurfing equipment, etc. can be included.

  • For flights to and from America, the additional fee of EUR 75/ $100 is applicable for extra baggage.
  • For all other flights, sports equipment is subject to a fee of EUR 40 when paying online and EUR 50 when paying at the reservation center.

You can easily cancel your flights and get a refund as applicable. However, there are some rules associated with it:

Tickets Booked Directly with Aer Lingus

  • Travelers can easily cancel their flights within 24 hours of booking to get a refund. Please note only those flights that are booked 7 days before the flight departure are subject to cancelation.
  • You can fill the Refund request form, and Aer Lingus will process your request and credit the refund to your account within 7 days.

When Booked through a Third Party

If bookings are made through any third party, then you need to contact the original point of sale (like a travel agent, etc.) directly for canceling your flight.

In case you are unable to travel on your departure date, need not worry as the airline provides you with the option of cancelation. But there are certain points to keep in mind:

  • Cancelation must be made within 24 hours of the purchase, provided the flight is booked 7 days before the final departure.
  • Flights to and from the U.S. are eligible for a full refund. To get the refund, you have to fill the Refund Request Form.

Yes, Aer Lingus flight tickets are refundable; however, this refund is subject to certain conditions.

  • Only those flights which are booked to and from the U.S. 7 days before the final departure date and canceled within 24 hours of the booking are eligible for a 100% refund.
  • Refunds are also dependent on the fare types – saver or smart fares are non-refundable; a complete refund will be given on flex fares if cancelation is made 2 hours before the scheduled departure and a full refund will be applicable to business flex fares.

  • The pet fee on regional flights is 40 EUR each and on long-distance flights, the fee is 160 EUR. Pets need to be at least 10 weeks old and can weigh up to 64kg when traveling with Aer Lingus.
  • Pets cannot be shipped on flights to Hartford, Los Angeles, Newark or San Francisco.

Pets in Cargo

  • On scheduled flights, the airline does not accept unaccompanied children who are below the age of 12.
  • Minors who are less than 12 years can travel with Aer Lingus only if they are accompanied by an adult of 16 years of age or older.
