Checked Baggage

The checked baggage can weigh up to 23kg and travelers can enhance this limit to 32kg by paying an extra fee and by purchasing an extra prepaid bag at the airport, provided if there is space available on the aircraft. Overweight Bag

Air New Zealand welcomes pets on-board; however, some certain factors and guidelines need to be taken into consideration while booking a pet.

  • Only domestic cats and dogs and small-caged birds are eligible to travel as checked-in baggage.
  • According to the pet policy of Air New Zealand, two adult animals of 14kg each can be shipped in the same container; however, the animal weighing more than 14kg will have to travel alone in the container.
  • Special treatment shall be given to the pets during the journey, and thus an additional pet carriage fee is required, which is NZD$75 for the pets up to 25kg and NZD$100 for 26kg and over.
  • It is preferred to check your pets in 60 minutes before the scheduled departure of the domestic flight.

Air New Zealand airline welcomes children traveling alone and offers you with a specialized service called Airband™, which enables you to follow and keep track of your kid’s journey. But there are certain rules and restrictions that you need to be aware of before making a reservation for an unaccompanied minor.

  • Children between 5 to 11 years of age are eligible to travel alone on selected routes and must have to use Airband.
