Printing your boarding pass for American Airlines flights is easy and saves a lot of time. It can be done online.

  • Go to the website of American Airlines and proceed with the online check-in process. You can also check-in by using the airline’s app on your mobile device.
  • Choose ‘Email with Mobile’ option.
  • Go to your email and follow the link instructions to print your boarding pass.
  • Save it on your device to make it easily accessible at the security gate and during boarding.
  • Scan the barcode on the screen at the airport security checkpoints and the gate to quickly board your flight.

You can use your mobile boarding pass at the majority of the airports. But you will need to check in advance if your connecting or departure airports accept mobile boarding pass.

American Airlines keep updating their checked baggage fee. It usually charges $25 for the first checked bag, $35 for the second, $150 for the third, and $200 for the fourth one. But, if your baggage exceeds the size or weight limit, you may be required to pay a bit more than $100 for each bag. However, you can check the latest baggage fee by directly visiting this page.

Checked Baggage Policy

You can check-in up to 5 bags if you’re traveling to /through/from the following destinations:

  • Mexico / Caribbean / Central America
  • South America
  • Brazil

Up to 10 bags can be checked if you are flying on domestic, Transatlantic, and Transpacific flights.

Carry-On Baggage Policy

If you are flying Basic Economy Class, you are allowed 1 free carry-on bag beside a personal item to all destinations.

Personal item like a small handbag or purse must fit under the seat in front of you and should not exceed this size- 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm).

Carry-on bags must fit in the sizer at the airport and should not exceed the size- 22 x 14 x 9 inches / 56 x 36 x 23 centimeters (including handles and wheels).

Please note that the following items don’t count as your carry-on or personal item:

  • Diaper bags (1 per child)
  • Soft-sided cooler bags with breast milk
  • Child safety seat
  • Strollers
  • Medical or mobility devices

For AA Vacations flight reservations, you can cancel your refundable or non-refundable air ticket for a full refund within 24 hours of booking. However, certain rules apply to this policy, which are listed below:

  • The reservation must have been booked at least 2 days before the scheduled departure.
  • This policy does not apply to hotel or other non-air portions of the package.
  • Refunds are only issued for tickets booked on aavacations.com or with American Airlines Vacations Reservations.

  • Make bookings for up to 6 passengers in one reservation on the airline’s website.

Yes, American Airlines tickets are refundable but with certain exceptions:

General Refund Policy:

For any flight cancelations (except group bookings) made within 24 hours of purchase irrespective of the ticket type, the airline will refund the amount. And the following charges will be deducted from the refunded amount:

  • The service charge for booking through Reservations
  • Sale-imposed non-refundable taxes

Refund Policy in case of a Refundable Ticket:

For a refundable ticket not being used and bought directly from the American Airlines, the refund will be processed back to the original credit card within 7 days upon raising the refund request.

For payments made in cash or through a check, it will take 20 days (after the receipt of complete refund request) for the refund to process.

Refund against a Non-Refundable Ticket:

American Airlines does not refund nonrefundable tickets except:

  • When they are canceled within 24 hours of purchase,
  • When there is a schedule change, resulting in a change of 61 minutes or more,
  • Upon the death of a passenger or passenger's traveling companion or because of military orders. However, supporting documentation is required.

You may be entitled to a refund of some taxes included in the price of your ticket:

  • Refundable taxes and fees will be refunded to the original form of payment.
  • Upon written request, taxes or fees not imposed by the airline that are specific to destinations can be refunded.
  • Taxes or fees won't be refunded if the airline has an obligation to pay regardless of travel.
