Select the My Trips option under the BOOK tab and click on “Flight Status.” You can check the current status of your flight by entering your departure city, arrival city, and flight date or by entering flight number and flight date.

You can print the boarding pass for your flights in three ways:

Online Check-In

Online check-in is the most convenient way to get the boarding pass. You can check-in for your flight 24 hours before the scheduled departure by visiting the official website of the airlines and print the boarding pass.

Go to BOOK and select Online Check-in. If you are traveling on a domestic flight and do not have any luggage to check, you can directly go for the security check.  For an international flight, you will receive a boarding voucher during the online check-in process. Take the print of the boarding voucher and present at the check-in counter at the airport to obtain your boarding pass. You can collect the boarding pass until 90 minutes before the flight’s scheduled departure time.

Mobile Check-In

You can check-in for your direct domestic flights using the mobile app of the airlines or using their SMS check-in facility. The hotline number for airline’s SMS service is 95539. Visit the link to see the list of cities supporting this SMS service. After doing the mobile check-in using the app or SMS service, you will receive a mobile or an e-boarding pass.

At the Kiosk

The self-service check-in can be done at the Kiosk available at the airport. You can access all your flight data at the Kiosk, with the specific check-in certificate. Scan the document number, confirm the flight information, select your seat, and finally print your boarding pass to complete the check-in process.

You can also log in to the China Southern Airlines website to get further information about the boarding pass.

In China Southern Airlines, you are allowed to carry a specific baggage limit at no cost. The baggage is inspected at the check-in counter, security check counter, and the boarding gate.

If you exceed the free baggage allowance, you will be required to pay excess baggage fees. Moreover, the baggage will be transported as checked baggage in the cargo compartment of the aircraft.

For carry-on baggage in domestic and international flights, the maximum baggage allowance is 5 Kgs, and maximum dimension is 115 cm. You must check your baggage at the self-service equipment for baggage checking or the check-in counter at the airport. If traveling in the First Class, you can carry 2 pieces and 1 piece in every other service class.

The charge for one extra piece is 1000 CNY (per piece), 1300 CNY (per piece) for the second, and more for additional baggage items. For First Class, the maximum weight and dimension cannot exceed 32 Kgs and 158 cm, whereas, for all other categories, this limit is 23 Kgs and 158 cm. For oversized bags, you’ll have to pay 1000CNY.

Please note that passengers can carry items like shawl, umbrella, camera, binoculars, reading material in the cabin for free.

The weight of the checked baggage should also comply with the airline’s baggage allowance. In case, if it’s not the checked baggage, it will not be carried in the same aircraft.

Carry-On Baggage

The airlines allow its passengers to carry a specific baggage limit in the cabin, which can contain personal items like a handbag, laptop, or purse. Passengers are allowed to carry one bag with dimensions less than or equal to 115 cm or 45 in (L + B + H).  They can carry a maximum of 2 pieces in the First Class and 1 piece in Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class. The weight of each item cannot be more than 5 kg. If the items exceed the defined weight limit, volume or number of pieces, they’ll be transported as checked baggage.

Checked Baggage

Airlines have set a maximum limit for the checked baggage. Any overweight and oversized baggage will incur additional fees. Below is the maximum baggage allowance for different flights:

  • For Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, and international routes involving the U.S. route, the maximum baggage allowance is 45 Kg. The dimensions should be less than or equal to 158 cm (L+ B+H).
  • For Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, and international routes not involving the U.S. route, the maximum baggage allowance is 32 Kg. The dimensions should be less than or equal to 158 cm (L+ B+H).
  • For all other domestic flights, the maximum baggage allowance is 50 Kg. The dimensions should be less than or equal to 200cm (L+B+H)

The airlines allow you to easily cancel flights and get a refund (as applicable). The cancelation of the flight ticket depends on the fare type you have chosen at the time of booking. And you may be required to pay some refund fees and commissions.

Tickets Booked through China Southern Airlines Website

You can fill the refund form available on the airlines’ website. Enter details including passenger name, CSN reservation code, ticket number, passport number, departure city, date, and arrival city. Mention the reason for cancelation and submit it for further processing. Please note that passengers not departing from Hong Kong airport are eligible for a complete refund of Air Passenger Departure Tax.

Tickets Booked through a Third Party

Contact your travel agent or original point of sale to cancel any flight bookings, in case the reservations were not made from the airline’s website.

In case you are unable to travel on the day of your scheduled departure, you can cancel your reservation using the online check-in service. Here’s how you can make the required changes:

  • Select the booking you want to cancel.  

As per the booking policy of China Southern Airlines:

Yes, the tickets are refundable. Passengers traveling to or from the US can cancel their reservation within 24 hours after booking the ticket, without any penalty. However, the ticket should have been purchased at least 7 days before the flight’s departure date.

China Southern Airlines allows pets like dogs, cats, and birds on its aircraft. However, they can only be transported in the checked baggage compartment and not in cabins. They should be medically fit and harmless. Moreover, they should be kept in a sturdy carrier made of tough plastic, metal, or wood. The size of the carrier used to transport a single pet should fall between 5 X15 X20cm and 40X60X100 cm.

Check-in Time

When booking tickets, pet owners should make the reservation for the transportation of pet as well. Reservation should be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure. Submit the relevant applications at the same time. The pet can fly only if you receive the airline’s consent.

Currently, the airline is allowing pets to travel on direct flights. Those flying with pets should come at the airport for check-in 90 minutes before the flight’s scheduled departure time.

Charges

Effective from May 20, 2019, pets will be charged as excess baggage and will not be included as free baggage allowance of the passenger. The weight of the pet along with their container and food shouldn’t be more than 32 kgs else excess baggage charges will apply.

For international flights, charges are applicable based on the weight of the pet:

  • Animal weighing more than equal to 2 kgs and less than equal to 8 Kgs: $200
  • Pets weighing less than equal to 8 Kg: $300
  • Pets weighing less than equal to 23 Kg: $500

Yes, you can change your seat when traveling with China Southern Airlines. If you wish to make changes to your seat, you can do it during the online check-in process.
