Airport Check-In: Passengers can visit the counters at airports for doing the check-in and print paper boarding passes. The airline allows its passengers to carry a certain baggage limit for free. Anything exceeding the limit will be chargeable.

For international flights, the charge for Economy Promo/Classic fares ranges between from USD 40- USD 175 and for Economy Full, the charge is USD 175 for the extra bag. In Economy Promo/Classic, the first bag weighing 23kgs is free of cost while in Economy Full, two bags weighing up to 23kgs are free.

For domestic flights, charge for the additional baggage across all travel classes is USD 40 and for the overweight baggage, it is USD 30.

Carry-On Baggage

Copa Airlines allow you to carry on-board one personal item such as one handbag, backpack, portfolio, or laptop computers along with anyone additional item from this list. You need to store in the superior compartment or under the seat in front of you.

  • Each piece can measure up to 46 combined linear inches (118 cm) 22 in height + 14 in length + 10 in width (56 cm height + 36 cm length + 26 cm width).
  • Pieces with a combined linear measurement exceeding the 46 combined linear inches (118 cm) are considered as checked baggage.

Please note that if your suitcase has wheels, the wheels are not included in the linear measurement of the suitcase.

Checked-In Baggage

As per the checked baggage policy of the airline:

  • Each passenger can check-in up to 4 bags.
  • If you are a member of any of these- Prefers Member Gold / Platinum / Presidential and Star Alliance Gold, you can check-in to 5 pieces.
  • Each piece can measure up to 62 combined linear inches (158 cm) (height + length + width).
  • Baggage whose liner measurements exceed 62 inches (158 cm) must be transported as Copa Cargo.

Unused Tickets

If you have an unused ticket, you will be refunded the full amount paid after deducting the penalty fee based on your fare rules and the non-refundable taxes.  

Cancelations made by the Airline

In a situation involving interruptions caused by aircraft mechanical problems, logistical issues, or maintenance needs, you may request a full or partial ticket refund, as applicable. Even if your ticket is non-refundable, you will be eligible for this type of involuntary refund. No penalty fee will be charged in such a case.

Copa Airlines considers children between the age 8-14 as unaccompanied minors. They can travel alone on direct flights or connected flights operated by the same airline. A charge of USD150 needs to be paid when using this service.

Those under the age of 5 must be accompanied by someone who is at least 18 years of age. Children between the age group of 5-7 are also considered as unaccompanied minors and may travel alone on direct flights or flight involving intermediate stops.

Important Points to Note:

  • Unaccompanied minors are not allowed to fly with pets.
  • They may not carry excess baggage or extra baggage as checked baggage.
  • Adults responsible for unaccompanied minors must submit the request for the service at least 48 hours before the departure.
