Please note that you are required to bring 2 copies of the boarding pass at the airport.

Some departure points are not currently available for online check-in, namely Mali, Republic of Congo, Kenya, Ndola, Libreville, Niamey, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Chad. If you have baggage, then you must arrive 45 minutes before the departure for domestic flights and 1 hour before for the international airport. Check-in at the airport is available between 3 hours and 1 hour before the scheduled departure. There are two ways to check-in at the airport.

Depending on the weight and dimensions, pets can travel either in the cabin or in the baggage compartment.

  • Passengers can carry only 2 pets in the cabin in the Economy Class and 1 pet in the Business Class. The maximum weight of the pet, including its container, must not exceed 8kg and the maximum dimensions of the container should not be more than 55X40X20cm.
  • If the maximum dimensions of the container exceed 55X40X20cm and maximum weight is more than 8kg, then your pet will have to travel in the baggage compartment.
  • Seeing-eye dogs and hearing-ear dogs are allowed in the cabin of Ethiopian Airlines passenger aircraft for free; however, such carriage is based on the government or local restrictions.
  • Pets are welcome in the cabins of all Ethiopian Q-400 aircraft.

Please note that additional charges apply to avail this service.

  • 150 USD/ 120 EUR/ 110 GBP for one way applies to pets traveling in the cabin with weight up to 8kg including the container.
  • 370 USD per direction applies to pets transported in the hold (more than 8kg and up to 32kg).

According to the Ethiopian Airlines unaccompanied minor policy:

  • Children aged between 5 years and the end of 11 years will be considered unaccompanied minors.
  • In addition to this, youth between 12 years and 17 years will also fall under the unaccompanied minor category on their parent’s special request.
  • Please note that if unaccompanied minors are traveling in code share flights, then getting escort service is mandatory. However, this service is completely optional for Ethiopian flights.

You will have to pay extra charges to avail this unaccompanied minor service. This additional cost is different for non-code share and codeshare flights.

For non-code share flights

  • Adult fare applies to both children between 5 and the end of 11 years and youth between 12 and 17 years.
  • Service fee is optional for youth unaccompanied minors (12 to 17 years) but mandatory for children between 5 to end of 11 years. USD 100 per sector will be charged for international routes and ETB 200 per sector applies to the domestic routes.

Please note that if you choose an escort service for children aged between 5 and end of 11 years, then you will have to pay the adult fare + service fee + escort charges (one way).

For Codeshare Flights

  • Adult Fare + USD 100 Service charge applies to both children between 5 and the end of 11 years and youth between 12 and 17 years.
  • Escort service is mandatory for children between 5 and end of 11 years and one-way escort fare applies.
  • Escort service is optional for the age group of 12 to 17 years.
