To stay updated with your airline’s flight information and status related to arrival, departure, delays, or gate changes, you can visit the official website of the airlines. On the homepage, select “Manage” and click on the “Flight Status” option.   

To search your flight, first, you need to enter the departure date. Then you can retrieve your trip by entering either your

  • Flight Number, or
  • Origin and destination

Click on View Status, and you will get all the information about your existing reservation.

There are four ways to get the boarding pass for Etihad Airways flights:

Online Check-In

Online check-in is a simplified way to check-in for flights which eliminates the hassles of standing in long queues at the airport. All you need to do is visit the airline’s website and click on the Web check-in option. Fill in your last name and booking reference number/Ticket number/Etihad Guest Number, and submit. Finally, print your boarding pass. Please note that online check-in opens 30 hours and closes 1 hour before the flight’s scheduled departure.

Mobile Check-In

Download the mobile app of the airline from the App Store or Google Play Store. Go to the check-in option and follow the steps to get your e-boarding pass on your device.

At the Airport

In case you were not able to process online check-in, visit the counters at the airport and print your boarding pass.

City Check-In

Passengers traveling from Abu Dhabi can check-in from any of the two locations in the city- City terminal and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. You can avail this facility to get your boarding pass within 24 hours of your flight departure. You can also drop your bags for check-in at these locations. It will save you a lot of time at the airport. Remember that city check-in is not available for a direct flight from Abu Dhabi to the U.S.

The airline allows you to carry with you a certain baggage limit. However, if you are carrying baggage more than the standard limit, you will have to pay oversized and overweight baggage fees.

The baggage allowance of the airline depends on the departure destination, arrival destination, class of service, and Etihad Guest membership. You can use the airline’s baggage calculator available on the official website to know the baggage allowance for a particular trip.

If you arrive at the airport will excess baggage, you will need to pay $60 each way for all flights including Canada and the U.S. Passengers flying between the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent, within the Middle East and between Beijing and Nagoya need to pay $40 each way as excess baggage fees.

Here is the general baggage allowance of Etihad Airways:

Carry-On Baggage

The maximum weight and dimensions of carry-on baggage depend on the class of travel a passenger has chosen.

  • For Economy Class (Deal, Saver, Classic, and Flex), you can carry baggage up to 7 Kg with a height of 50 cm, width 40 cm, and length 25 cm.
  • In First Class and Business Class, passengers are allowed to carry 2 bags which can weigh maximum12 Kg with height 50 cm, width 40 cm, and length 25 cm.

They can also bring along a personal item like a handbag with a maximum weight 5 kg and dimensions of 30 cm (width) X 40 cm (Height) X 15 cm (length) in all service class with no extra charges.

Checked Baggage

The maximum dimension limit of the checked baggage, in any case, should be within this size- height 90cm X width 72cm X length 45 cm.

  • In Economy (Deal, Saver, and Classic) Class, the maximum weight allowance is 30 kg.
  • In Economy Flex, the maximum weight allowance is 35 kg.
  • For Business Class, the maximum weight allowance is 40 kg.
  • For First class, the maximum baggage allowance is 50 kg.

(Note: Individual baggage shouldn’t weigh more than 32 kg.)

As per the baggage policy of Etihad Airways, you can carry baggage within a certain limit.

Carry-On Baggage

The maximum weight and dimensions of carry-on baggage depend on the class of travel a passenger has chosen.

Checked Baggage

Go through the checked baggage allowance for Etihad Airways for the different service class. The maximum size, in any case, should be within the dimensions- height 90 cm X width 72cm X length 45 cm.

  • In Economy (Deal, Saver, and Classic) class, the maximum weight allowance is 30 Kg
  • In Economy Flex, the maximum weight allowance is 35 kg.
  • For Business Class, the maximum weight allowance is 40 kg.
  • For First class, the maximum weight allowance is 50 kg.

(Note: Individual baggage shouldn’t weigh more than 32 kg.)

You can include miscellaneous items like skis, bikes, scuba diving equipment, poles, surfboards, ski boots, and golf bags in baggage allowance. Make sure the maximum dimensions remain within 300 cm and weight should be less than 32 kg. Use the baggage calculator to know about the baggage allowance for various flights.

Buy Excess Baggage

If required, you can add extra kilos besides the allowed weight limit and dimensions, but up to 30 hours before the flight departure, during the booking and after booking. Etihad Airways offers up to 20% off on their standard rates so that you pack as much as you want. For an extra 5 Kilos, passengers need to pay $82, for excess 10 kg the cost is $166, for 15 Kg it is $212, and so on.  Use this excess baggage calculator to proceed. The discount is valid for a specific time before the flight’s scheduled departure.

Etihad Guest Tier members can carry up to 20 kg of extra baggage without paying anything extra.

The airline offers easy cancelation policy to its passengers. You can cancel the ticket by visiting the official website of the airline, contacting its Global Contact Centre, or the travel agent from whom you have purchased your ticket.

When you cancel your reservation, you are eligible for a refund, provided you fulfill the criteria.  

The refunds by the airline depend on the fare type initially chosen at the time of flight booking. Before you book a ticket, it is advisable to go through the refund policy of various fare types.

Refundable Tickets

Refund applies to tickets booked in the Economy Classic, Economy Flex, Business Classic, and Business Flex. Economy Classic and Business Classic are eligible for a refund, but with a certain fee.

Passengers who have booked their tickets in the U.S. must cancel their ticket within 24 hours, to receive the complete refund. Moreover, the ticket should have been purchased 7 days in advance of the flight departure.

Please note it may take 2 weeks to a month to get the fund credited to your card or bank account.

In case you have a change in travel plan and wish to cancel your flight, visit the Manage my Booking section on the airline’s official website.

You can also contact the Etihad Contact Centre or a nearby agent (if this is the point of purchase) to cancel the booking. You will be charged a Guest Service Fee for the cancelation.

There are some policies associated with the reservation of Etihad Airways flights.

  • In case you have a sudden change in your travel plan, you are free to cancel or change the flight. However, cancelations must be done within 24 hours of the booking. Moreover, the ticket should have been booked at least 5 days before the scheduled departure of the flight, else an additional 10% fees will be charged. The ticket should have been bought on a single credit card.
  • On ticket cancelation, you can get the complete refund. But, please note, it depends on the fare rules of the original ticket and route of the flight. Yes, tickets are refundable. The airline offers hassle-free cancelation policy to its passengers. If you wish you cancel your ticket and request a refund, visit the Manage my Booking section on the airline’s website, up to 2 hours before the flight.

Etihad Airways does not allow pets to travel in the aircraft cabin. Any pet, horses, and other animals are transported as cargo. Below are the terms and conditions for different types of animals transported by Etihad Airways:

Service Animals

These animals are considered a part of the checked baggage allowance and are thus carried in the cargo for free. Pets other than service animals and guide dogs are allowed as manifested cargo.

Falcons

Your favorite falcon can travel on an Etihad aircraft as checked baggage. You can carry two falcons per seat in Business Class or First Class and one falcon per seat in Economy Class. It can be transported as manifested cargo as well.

Here is the fee that needs to be paid on traveling with Falcon (applicable for all cabin types):

Short Haul: $180

Medium Haul: $250

Long Haul: $320

Ultra-long Haul: $390

For falcons traveling to or from the USA and Canada, a fee of $360 needs to be paid.

Yes, the airline gives you the option to select your seat at the time of booking. To make changes to your assigned seat, you need to visit Manage my bookings. Enter your booking reference or your ticket number, and your last name to find your bookings. After accessing the information, you can select or change your seat.

However, it is always advisable to choose the seat as early as possible, since all the seats are subject to availability.

Children between the age 5-11 years traveling alone or traveling in a different cabin than adults on Etihad flights are considered as unaccompanied minors (UM) by the airline and are eligible for a free unaccompanied minor service. But they need to be booked on normal adult fare.

Children Below 5 Years

The airline doesn’t accept children below 5 years of age for unaccompanied minor service. They can only travel with an adult.

Young Travelers Between 12-17 Years

Young travelers between the age of 12-17 years can avail the unaccompanied minor service at a certain fee, which is:

  • Direct flight: $ 150 (each way)
  • Connecting flights: $ 150 (each way)

Important points to remember

  • To avail this service, you need to complete the Unaccompanied Minor form using the booking reference number. In the case of connecting flights, fill separate forms. You can contact the airline’s Global Contact Centre or visit the local ticketing office to request the form.
  • Provide the child with required documents and relevant forms
  • Unaccompanied minor service must be pre-booked before arrival at the airport. If not, a fee is applicable.
  • Parents must accompany the child during check-in at the airport, available at least 2 hours before the flight.
  • Children can travel as Unaccompanied minors only on connected flights operated by Etihad Airways, given the transit time is less than 8 hours. In connecting flights operated by other airlines, children are not eligible as unaccompanied minors.
  • Children traveling in First class or business class can access lounge in Abu Dhabi
  • The Unaccompanied minor policy is not available for reservations made using Etihad Guest Miles.
