For LOT Polish Flights (Flight Numbers LO001-3999*)

LOT Automated Check-In

This is the simplest way of check-in for you, and to get your Mobile Boarding Pass/Web Boarding Pass. Automated Check-In lets you to check-in automatically 36 hours before the scheduled departure of your flight and sends your boarding pass either on your e-mail address or your phone.

When you reach the airport, show your boarding pass to the airport authorities to board the flight.

Note: LOT Automated Check-In Service is available only for travelers of LOT Polish Airlines. This service cannot be used when you are required to give passport information during Check-In.

If you are carrying excess baggage while traveling with this airline, you need to pay for it, but at the same time, you can save 20% of your excess baggage charge when you pay for it online in advance. However, there are some specific time restrictions:  

  • For domestic flights flying within Poland, you can book extra baggage services up to 12 hours before the departure of your flight.
  • For international flights flying between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, you can book extra baggage services up to 24 hours before the departure of your flight.
  • For intercontinental flights flying between USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, Delhi, and Colombo, you can book extra baggage services up to 24 hours before the departure of your flight.

Excess Baggage Charges

Excess baggage charges depend on your flight’s category (Domestic Flight, International Flight, Intercontinental flights (+ Nur-Sultan)) you have reserved for your travel, and as per your baggage weight and dimensions.

Following are the baggage limitations based on which, you will have to pay the charges:

  • Additional Baggage Piece – Maximum 23 Kg and 158 cm.
  • Additional Baggage Piece – Maximum 23 Kg or 32 Kg and 158 cm or Maximum 23 Kg and over 158 cm.
  • Additional Baggage Piece – Over 23 Kg and Maximum 32 Kg and over 158 cm.

Note: If you are traveling on a domestic flight, you will have to pay an extra charge of 8% VAT for the excess baggage.

Carry-On Baggage  

Weight Limitations

Your carry-on baggage depends on your class of travel. If you prefer to travel in:

  • LOT Business Class – You are allowed to carry 2 pieces each weighing 9 Kg.
  • LOT Premium Economy (intercontinental flights) – You can carry 2 pieces both 12 kg (each weighing 8 Kg).
  • LOT Premium Economy (international flights) – You are allowed to carry 1 piece weighing 8 Kg.
  • LOT Economy Class – You are allowed to carry 1 piece weighing 8 Kg.
  • LOT Economy Saver – You are allowed to carry 1 piece weighing 8 Kg.

Dimension Limitations

The size of your carry-on baggage should be within these dimensions- Length: 55cm, Width: 40cm, Height: 23cm.

If your baggage exceeds the weight and dimension limits, you will have to pay extra charges depending on the category of your flight.  

Note: If you are a domestic passenger, you will have to pay an extra charge of 8% VAT on your excess baggage.

One Additional Bag

Besides your cabin baggage, you are allowed to carry one additional bag (a ladies handbag, or laptop) within the dimensions of 40 cm x 35 cm x 12 cm.

Baby strollers can be carried along with your cabin baggage.

Checked Baggage

The checked baggage allowance depends on your class of travel (LOT Business Class, LOT Premium Economy, LOT Economy Class (Standard, Flex), LOT Economy Saver). The number of baggage pieces and their weight also depends on your class of travel and destination.

Checked Baggage Dimensions

The size of each piece of your checked baggage must not exceed 158 cm, including all measurements (Width, Height, and Depth).

The airline allows you to carry sports equipment and weapons. However, when carrying weapons, you have to inform the airline authorities 48 hours before your scheduled flight departure. 

Restricted Items in the Checked Baggage

  • Valuable items and cash.
  • Precious metals and jewelry.

LOT Polish Airlines allows you to travel with your pets that can include both cats and dogs. However, you are only allowed to travel with a limited number of pets, and there are some guidelines:

Pet Guidelines

The airline allows you to carry your pet either in the cabin, baggage hold, or in the cargo.

Note: If your number of pets reaches the limit, then the airline has the full authority to refuse the carriage of your pet. If you are planning to carry your pet in the cabin, you will have to make a reservation at least 24 hours before your departure.

Guidelines for Carrying your Pet in the Cabin

When carrying your pet in the cabin, it must have:

  • Up-to-date vaccination records against rabies.
  • Veterinary health certificates.
  • Special passport issued by a veterinary surgeon.
  • A suitable pet container.
  • A microchip implant.

Note: If you are traveling with your pet to the United States of America, your pet will require a 30-day long quarantine since the last vaccination against rabies.

Weight and Dimensions

If you are planning to travel with your pet in the cabin, it must be carried in a special container, and both must not weigh more than 8 Kgs.

Dimensions of your Pet Carrier

  • If traveling in B787 and B737 flights, it must be within these dimensions- Length: 55/Width: 40/Height: 20 cm.
  • If traveling in DH4, E70, E75, and E95 flights, it must be within these dimensions- Length: 45/Width: 30/Height: 20 cm.

Guidelines for Carrying your pet in the Baggage Hold

If you are planning to transport your pet as checked baggage, your pet carrier must:

  • Be within these dimensions- Length: 55/Width: 40/Height: 20 cm for B787 and B737 and Length: 45/Width: 30/Height: 20 cm for DH4, E70, E75, and E95.
  • Comply with the requirements of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Live Animals Regulations.
  • Be large enough so that your pet feels comfortable and moves freely.
  • Be equipped with water and feed container.
  • Have proper ventilation, at least on three sides.

Note: if your pet container does not meet the IATA guidelines, the airline will refuse to transport your pet at the check-in.

Guidelines for Carrying your Pet in the Cargo as Baggage Hold

When carrying your pet in the cabin or baggage hold, it must have:

  • Up-to-date vaccination records against rabies.
  • Veterinary health certificates.
  • Special passport issued by a veterinary surgeon.
  • A suitable pet container.
  • A microchip implant.

Note: You are only allowed to carry animals who are 3 months old and have passed 21 days since their last vaccination against rabies.

You will have to make a telephonic reservation for your pet at least 4 to 7 days before the departure.

Applicable Charges

The airline will only charge a fee for your pet if transported in the baggage hold. If you are carrying your pet in the cabin or as checked baggage, certain charges including the service tax will be applied as per the region of your travel.

When you arrive at the airport but unable to find your baggage, then please immediately notify the issue to the airline and complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). With LOT Polish Airlines, you can select your seats by choosing the My Favorite Seat option on the airline’s official website. This service is provided to you while making your reservations. However, if you would like to select seats after making a reservation, you will have to pay a fee and purchase this service using the Manage My Booking option.

As per the LOT Polish Airlines unaccompanied minor policy:

  • Children within the age of 12 can travel only when they are assisted by the airline’s ground staff and cabin crew.
  • Children who have crossed the age of 12 don’t need to be assisted by the airline’s staff or can be assisted if parents make the request.
  • Children don’t need to be assisted when traveling with a person whose age is 16 or above.
  • The assistance provided by the airline should be booked by the guardians of the children. This can be booked at LOT Sales Offices or through the airline’s LOT Contact Center (+48 22 577 77 55). If you would like to book escort and assistance services, you will have to pay an additional fee. (The airlines Escort service involves a staff member who will take care of your child at each stage of their journey.)

Required Details

Parents of the children traveling alone will be required to fill up the Request For Carriage form, which is available at the check-in counter at the airport.

Services for Children

  • If your child is 8 weeks and 5 years old and is traveling alone, a dedicated cabin crew will assist your child starting from the check-in to their destination airport.
  • Children in-between the age of 5 to 12 traveling alone are provided by special assistance service.
  • Young children between the age of 12 to 17 may travel alone without any assistance. However, if requested by parents, the airline will provide staff for their supervision.
